A Year in Review, Eduvos 2024.

Post by Eduvos, December 30, 2024.

As we approach the end of 2024, we find ourselves looking back on a year filled with growth, innovation, and purpose. This year was not just a year of milestones but a transformative journey shared by our students, staff, and academics. Together, we celebrated remarkable strides in shaping potential and acknowledged the collective forces that made it all possible.

Eduvos has consistently demonstrated its commitment to excellence in higher education, earning recognition as a leader in the field. We are honoured to be named one of the Top 10 fastest-growing companies in South Africa by Insight Success Magazine and CIO World. These accolades highlight our transformative role in education, underscoring our mission to shape students' potential while adapting to the dynamic global landscape.

Our achievements were further validated by receiving PMR.africa's Diamond Arrow Award for second consecutive year. This honour voted for by South Africa's business, corporate, and government sectors, which employ graduates from various private higher education institutions. This prestigious award reflects our success in producing industry-ready graduates, who excel in academic excellence, innovation, and leadership skills.

In May, we unveiled our new, state-of-the-art Eduvos Mowbray campus. Our new campus represents a significant leap forward for Eduvos as we continue to expand and shape the future of education in Africa. Our Mowbray campus embodies our forward-thinking campus-of-the-future model. Merging cutting-edge technology merges with academic excellence, this campus creates a holistic learning environment for our students.  Additionally, we expanded our Applied Science qualifications to our Pretoria Campus, addressing the growing demand for science education and equipping students with advanced, state-of-the-art facilities.

Eduvos also introduced a comprehensive Research Agenda for 2023 to 2027, driven by the vision of 'Empowering Sustainable Development in Africa', led by Dr Nyx McLean. This initiative reinforces our commitment to fostering positive societal change through impactful research while shaping potential, student by student, towards Africa’s prosperity.

In response to the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, our Design & Future Learning team, led by Dr Miné de Klerk, integrated AI into our curricula. This ensures AI is used ethically and sustainably to enhance learning experiences while prioritising the needs of our students and staff.

The success of our students remains at the heart of everything we do. We celebrated remarkable achievements at the 2024 GradStar Awards, where Eduvos was ranked among South Africa’s Top 10 higher education institutions, as the only private institution. Out of over 6,000 entries, 20 Vossies earned spots in the Top 500, six of whom made it to the Top 100. We are proud to share that Kaylyn Botha from our Bedfordview campus secured a place in the Top 10.

Our commitment to empowering students extends beyond the classroom. We launched the Bio Centrifuge Africa competition in collaboration with Task, bridging innovation and opportunity between South Africa's biotech sector and the BioHealth Capital Region in the USA. Two of our Eduvos students took part in the competition with Boikanyo Molefe placing third. Four students from our Tygervalley and Bedfordview campuses were selected for the prestigious Gold Pack Awards, where these talented Graphic Design Vossies once again showcased their exceptional talent and creativity. A team of talented IT students from our Pretoria campus celebrated a significant achievement following their participation in the Cars4Mars Africa Rover Challenge. The Cars4Mars challenges higher education and high school students to design and build a Mars rover prototype that can be controlled remotely and has an independent energy source. This competition was a first for Eduvos and marked a leap of faith that set the foundation for what promises to be an annual tradition. The competition brought together 70 teams from 11 African nations, with Eduvos being one of four teams from South Africa making it to the finale.

We’re committed to delivering transformative educational experiences that empower students beyond the classroom. This was exemplified following the launch of our new SAICA-accredited/endorsed Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA or CTA2) designed to help students master the competencies needed for SAICA’s qualifying examinations. This accredited programme equips graduates to embark on fulfilling professional journeys while meeting the highest industry standards.

We also celebrated the launch of the Eduvos Alumni Association, a network that brings together graduates from Eduvos, as well as CTI Education Group, Midrand Graduate Institute and Pearson Institution of Higher Education. With Campus Connect events hosted across 11 campuses across South Africa from July to October, we reconnected with 268 alumni, reigniting a sense of belonging and introducing the My Eduvos platform, a digital home for our alumni community.

As we look back on 2024, we see a year of achievements and continuos growth. The recognition, awards, and initiatives of this year reflect the collective effort of the Eduvos community and reaffirm our purpose: to empower students to unlock their potential and make meaningful contributions to society.

As we approach 2025, we carry forward the lessons learned, and momentum from this incredible year. Together, we will continue to innovate, inspire, and lead, ensuring Eduvos remains a beacon of transformative education. We thank you for being part of this remarkable journey.
