Esports At Eduvos

What is esports & Our Mission

Esports, also known as electronic sports, comprise various online and offline games in an organised, competitive environment between teams and are governed by strict rules and guidelines. Esports provide a sense of community and belonging, allowing people from different backgrounds and identities to connect and share a common interest.

Eduvos is innovating the higher education market. Beyond providing quality education, our mission requires us to open doors of opportunity to students, empower tomorrow’s leaders, and promote diversity in the fourth industrial revolution.

We recognise the importance of esports and look forward to building a vibrant community where our Vossies can come together to play their favourite games, develop their skills, and compete in organised events. It’s an opportunity to create a connection between our students at other Eduvos campuses and have fun doing what they love while earning their degree. We have proudly partnered with RGB Gaming to deliver esports at our campuses.

Why esports?

Playing esports is beneficial in developing and improving various skills, some of which include cognitive and social development and strategic thinking. Valuable skills that can translate into various areas of study and the future job market.

Cognitive & Social Development

Esports is an engaging way to develop important skills for personal and professional growth. Helping students improve their critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making and hand-eye coordination skills. While also providing social opportunities to connect, collaborate, communicate and develop a sense of belonging in a community.

Strategic Thinking

Esports can boost students strategic thinking, teamwork, communication, leadership, performance skills and confidence building. Developing and executing strategic plans to outsmart opponents, learning how to analyse the game, anticipate next moves and adjust the strategy accordingly. These skills can be translated into many of our qualifications.

Future Job Market

Participating in esports helps students develop important soft skills which are valued by employers, some of which include teamwork, leadership and adaptability. While also providing opportunities to build professional networks and gain relevant experience in competitive and fast-paced environments which one can benefit from in a range of careers.

Where Can I Play

Esports at Eduvos is open to all Vossies, across all four faculties and 12 campuses nationwide.

We are excited about the academic opportunities that esports can provide our Vossies. esports provides a bridge to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields as teams must analyse data, review their strategies and learn to understand the computer hardware and software.

We value our student’s academic careers and see value in introducing an opportunity where academics and gaming meet with esports as an extracurricular activity.
