Eduvos Bedfordview campus recently hosted an insightful psychology information seminar, drawing an enthusiastic in-person and online crowd. Recognising the complexity and significance of the psychology field, the campus event aimed to guide students through the academic and career pathways available in psychology and industrial psychology.
The seminar featured distinguished guest speakers from the University of Witwatersrand, private psychological practices, NGOs, and lecturers from various Eduvos campuses. Notably, some of the speakers were Eduvos alumni, showcasing the impactful careers our graduates have achieved. This allowed our Vossies to envision their potential futures.
During the seminar, attendees gained valuable insights into:
Pursuing Honours and Master's degrees
Understanding the distinctions and overlaps between Psychology, Industrial Psychology, and HR
Exploring career opportunities at different academic levels (BA, Honours, and Master's degrees)
The process of registering as a psychologist in South Africa
Finding and benefiting from volunteering experiences
The event saw a vibrant turnout with 65 attendees in person and 115 participants online, including students from other Eduvos campuses who travelled to Bedfordview. Beyond the enriching discussions, attendees enjoyed pizza, refreshments, and the chance to tour our new Bedfordview campus, fostering connections with lecturers and peers from different locations.
We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from students, many found the seminar particularly beneficial for making informed decisions about their future studies and career paths. Third-year students appreciated the clarity about their next steps, enhancing their employability prospects. The event heightened interest in Psychology and Industrial Psychology and strengthened the Eduvos community's commitment to these fields.
