We are excited to announce a new partnership between our Eduvos Durban (Umhlanga) Campus and Old Mutual as the financial giant launches a new Tech Hub in the heart of Umhlanga.
The Tech Hub is located across the road from Eduvos and aims to create a Silicon Valley-like innovation space in KwaZulu-Natal. The hub will allow tech talent in the province to be nurtured while also attracting talent from other parts of the country.
Our partnership with Old Mutual came about as both companies believe that students need to be prepared for the changing world of work and have industry-relevant experience. Old Mutual's team of innovation experts will lend their knowledge and insight to 20 hand-picked top performers from Eduvos Durban’s IT faculty.
These students will receive mentoring in the hub and learn how to apply their studies to real-world problems. Old Mutual’s experts will guide our students in how to solve these issues with relevant skills and innovative thinking. The partnership with Old Mutual will also give our students access to vacation work opportunities and the opportunities to host hackathons, Ted Talks and career fairs. The first event kicked off the partnership, on Friday 9 June. Students were introduced to the Old Mutual Team and had the opportunity to share their ideas and suggestions.

This partnership is another way that we promote the employability of our students. Our curricula is constantly updated to meet the demands of the changing working world. Eduvos lecturers are a combination of academics and industry professionals who know what it takes to succeed. As well as our dedicated Employability Centre that equips our students with the skills needed in the job market and helps them find employment post-graduation.
This Tech Hub partnership links to Eduvos’s future-faced model. We are working to make Eduvos one of Africa’s leading meta-universities, with a focus on incorporating Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality technologies into our teaching. We also offer various tech-focused qualifications, including Cyber Security, Robotics and Machine Learning.
We are excited about this project, as it is our mission to unlock potential – student by student – towards Africa’s prosperity. This new Tech Hub is invaluable to young Africans looking for a career in tech without having to leave South Africa.
About Eduvos Durban Umhlanga Campus
Our Durban campus is situated on the beautiful Umhlanga Ridge, where we offer a coastal studying experience in the hub of new business and industry. Our state-of-art facilities include a complimentary shuttle service, an IT computer lab, resource centre, employability centre, esports room, community garden, and more! At this vibrant campus you can really feel our “edu-vibe” with students playing soccer, gathering for lunch in the outdoor area and taking selfies against our trendy branded backdrops. Our expert academic staff know every student by name, and you’ll often see the campus General Manager walking the corridors to check how everyone is doing. There is a strong sense that, when a student enrols at Eduvos Umhlanga, you become part of the Eduvos family, and this extends to parents, sponsors, industry partners – even your furry friends at home.
With a coastal studying experience comes health and wellness. We have a dedicated wellness team to support our students, and we are across the road from the famous Shoots and Leaves where students can pick up a wholesome lunch. For coffee lovers, there is a buzzing Seattle next door, and if you visit often enough you can expect your order waiting for you as soon as you walk in.
