Meet Chelsea Otto, a young and ambitious student from Cape Town who is currently pursuing her Honours degree in Information Technology specialising in software engineering at Eduvos. Eduvos is one of South Africa’s largest private higher education institutions and has a long history in education spanning almost 45 years. Chelsea's story is a testament to the importance of perseverance and passion in achieving your goals.
Chelsea Otto is studying to become a Software Engineer. Chelsea was always interested in technology: as a child, she played games and completely immersed herself in documentaries about the latest technology trends. However, her journey of pursuing a career in IT was not straightforward. It wasn't her first choice as she initially wanted to go into the medical field. Her passion for IT, however, never disappeared and she finally got the opportunity to pursue her dreams after receiving a bursary from HP Inc. through the educational trust StudyTrust. Her experience highlights how vital a bursary can be to unlocking your dreams. She still vividly remembers the moment when she received the news that she was selected as a bursary recipient.
Chelsea's advice for young people during Youth Month: be bold and courageous in going after your dreams. Research your respective fields of interest, she says, and most importantly never give up.
Her story is an inspiring example of how even if you don't have it all figured out in high school, maintaining your dedication and passion can lead to incredible opportunities.
