At Eduvos, we recognise the importance of student residence and accommodation opportunities that provide our students with a nurturing environment that not only supports their academic endeavours but also ensures their safety and well-being.
To help you with your accommodation search, we’ve spotlighted one of our trusted student accommodation partners, DigsConnect.
Who is DigsConnect?
DigsConnect was founded in 2018 by Alexandria Procter. While studying, she noticed the need for a simple and efficient way to search and compare student accommodation options. Together with Greg Ramsey-Keal, they developed DigsConnect.com, an online platform where landlords list their properties and students can search for suitable student accommodation near their campus.
What makes DigsConnect unique?
DigsConnect is the largest student co-living platform in Africa. Having connected over 145,000 students and landlords, they continue to forge relationships to supply the growing demand, nationwide.
What are the benefits of finding student accommodation through DigsConnect?
DigsConnect is completely free for students! You can sign up, enquire and book with a landlord with no hidden costs. They charge the landlord a small placement fee and that's how they are able to keep doing what they do.
How do you ensure safe and secure accommodation options for students?
Safety is one of their top priorities. Although the listing is free for landlords, DigsConnect requires paperwork and a safety checks before they make the listing available. They have a rigorous moderation process to ensure each listing on the platform is legitimate, follows an easy-to-understand format and complies with their standards.
What locations does DigsConnect operate in across South Africa?
DigsConnect is most popular in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midrand and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) but you can also find their footprint growing in Durban, Tyger Valley and Bloemfontein. Take a look at our campuses in these regions.
What is the application process like and how can our students get in touch?
All you need to do is visit DigsConnect.com, sign up (for free!) and start searching. You can search by area or by campus. If you see something you like, hit that enquire button and start chatting to the landlord. You can enquire from up to 5 places at a time.
DigsConnect Booking Status Explained
Pending: This means that you have sent a booking enquiry. The landlord has 48 hours to reply so just hang tight.
Connected: This means that the landlord has replied, and you are now connected and able to ask questions and chat about their application process and requirements.
Confirmed: This means that your application was successful, and you have either paid the deposit and/or signed the lease. You are moving in!
Cancelled: This means that either the landlord or tenant has cancelled the booking enquiry either before or after receiving a reply. If you’re a tenant, you can still resend the enquiry if you’d like.
Expired: This means that the landlord didn’t respond to the tenant’s inquiry message within 48 hours. If you’re a tenant, you can still resend the enquiry if you’d like.
Denied: Whoops! This means that the landlord received the enquiry but chose to decline it. Often this is because the property is full, or no longer available.
