Eduvos Bachelor of Commerce in Law graduate, Precious talks to us about her Eduvos journey at our Claremont campus.
When did you start your academic journey with Eduvos?
In 2019, I chose to study at Eduvos because of their Pre-Degree Foundation Programme in Commerce and Law. My matric results were not so good, so I needed to start with a Pre-Degree to help get access to the degree I wanted to study. The Pre-Degree Foundation Programme really helped with the transition from high school into higher education. That was really intimidating at first, but as time went on, I really got to enjoy my lectures and adapt.
I then started my Bachelor of Commerce in Law degree, which I recently completed and celebrated my graduation with the Class of 2022. It still feels like I’m dreaming!
Would you say you had an advantage studying a Pre-Degree Programme?
Yes, I do think I had an advantage because I was credited for some of the modules I’d already learnt and I’d developed skills that made it easier to start my degree. I also found that I could help my peers, which was nice.
Do you plan on studying further?
Yes, of course! I am currently doing my BCom Honours in Business Management, this will be the 3rd programme that I’ve studied with Eduvos. I would’ve loved for Eduvos to start offering Master’s or even Doctorate programmes. Studying for my honours is very different from my degree, with the assignments and the research aspect, it’s a lot, but I’m handling it.
Why did you choose to study at the Claremont Campus?
Eduvos actually came to the school I attended in Limpopo; they came to do a presentation and I liked the fact that Eduvos was a private institution. I know I could have chosen to study at a campus closer to home and my family, but I wanted to go to Cape Town and start a whole new adventure. I wanted to be independent and find my own feet. I love the Claremont campus, I’ve had a really great experience with my peers, lecturers and staff. The campus staff are so encouraging; ensuring you work hard, manage your time well and fight for your goals.
What did you like most about Eduvos?
As I said, I liked the fact that Eduvos is a private institution because of the smaller classes, personalised attention and safe learning environment. As a very shy person, I didn’t want to study in a fully crowded place. So being in a class environment with 10 to 12 people made it easier for me to feel comfortable communicating with my lecturers.
