Eduvos Bachelor of Business Administration graduate, Providence Ngobeni talks to us about her academic journey at our Midrand campus.

Why did you decide to study at Eduvos and study the qualification which you graduated with?
I decided before I finished high school that I wanted to go to a private institution because of their smaller class sizes. I studied a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and Human Resource Management. I wanted to go into the business sector, but I didn't want to specialise in one thing just yet. I’m also planning on pursuing my Honours in Business Management with Eduvos this year.

Tell us more about your experience with the Eduvos staff and lecturers...
The lecturers were very warm and welcoming. They tried to make sure that we understood everything. I remember my Accounting lecturer in particular, he just always had a way of making us understand the content. The lecturers are so dedicated to lecturing. When you go to other institutions, you don’t always get the chance to ask questions. At Eduvos, they ensure you have a thorough understanding of what's going on.

What advice would you give to students looking to study at Eduvos?
Study with your peers and classmates and go to your lecturers for guidance. That way, you can learn which content is most important and focus on that.

Would you say your degree has prepared you for your employment?
Yes, it did. I started working at Landis+Gyr as an intern in project and technical administration. I remember when I went to my interview at Landis+Gyr, my current manager was present. There were also three other candidates. My manager said I was the person they were looking for because I did Accounting and I’m very social. They were also impressed by my computer skills, which is a skill I learnt at Eduvos as we received the full Microsoft 365 package upon enrolment.

Were you part of any clubs or societies while you were at Eduvos?
Yes, I was an academic mentor. I was a mentor in my third year because I was also chosen for the DHL Gradstar Top 500. To become a mentor, you had to attend the training then you wrote a test. After passing, you get your certificate. After the certification, they start allocating people that you can mentor.
