Meet Zwikhodo Dzuguda, a young student with big aspirations. Born and raised in Pretoria, this young woman has always had a passion for learning and experiencing new things. Now a second-year student at Eduvos, Zwikhodo is studying towards a BA degree in Tourism and hopes to one day travel the world and explore all that the tourism industry has to offer.
When asked about her career aspirations, Zwikhodo doesn't hesitate to express her desire to explore the world. “I want to get out of my comfort zone and just explore things,” she says. “I love tourism, and I want to see where it can take me”. Zwikhodo has always been interested in the hospitality sector. As she got older, she discovered that she had a passion for communicating with people and interacting with them on a personal level. “I chose to pursue a degree in the humanities as it would give me a solid foundation for my career goals.”
Zwikhodo Dzuguda is pursuing her tourism dreams. She heard about a bursary opportunity that the South African Bank Note Company offered from a relative. She was incredibly happy when she received the news that her studies would be funded. “I was ecstatic to hear the news,” she recalls. “It gave me the freedom to choose my field of study and institution without any financial constraints. I'm so thankful because I feel like I wouldn't be where I am without a bursary.”
Zwikhodo encourages all young people to study hard and take advantage of the opportunities available to them. "Life out here is not as easy as people think it is. Opportunities come once, and when they come, we need to grab them and run. If we don't, we'll regret it. But if we grab the opportunity, we'll find ourselves somewhere in life, and we'll feel like we've come a long way."
Zwikhodo's story is an inspiring one, full of hope and courage. She is a shining example of what is possible when young people are given the chance to pursue their dreams and are supported along the way.
